I have two daughters. When the first was born I was thrilled that I was going to be a dad. I didn’t care what the sex was, though having a boy would have been cool. Then my wife and I had our second. I was convinced that Jordan, my daughter, was going to be a son. Obviously I was wrong, but that’s ok as well.

Being a guy’s guy, I’ve always wanted a son. I’ll admit, I was a chauvinist pig. I didn’t want to deal with pink stuff, dolls, etc. I wanted baseball, camping, wrestling, etc.

As my girls have gotten older, I’ve realized that I was being a putz, a big one. I can have all that “boy” stuff WITH the beauty and charm of having little girls who love their daddy.

Now, yes, would I love having a son? Sure, but do I love having daughters? Absolutely. 100%. I’m the king of the house and my girls love me. I’m a rock star and I know that they will always be close to home (me hopes).

Now, the great part.

My oldest is very much into technology and my youngest is very much into sports. It’s like having sons interested in what I’m interested in, but without the craziness of little boy – no biting chairs; no humping pillows; and, no little balls of testosterone running around the house.

So yea, was I a chauvinist pig and never thought girls would be into gadgets or watching the Celtics? Hell yea.

I was dead wrong and I thank my little stars everyday that I get to come home to those two little princesses (then fire up the laptop for one and put on the C’s for the other).
